CBN Issues Warning on Fake Contract Awards and Funding.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)has sternly warned members of the public to beware of the activities of fraudster claiming to be in receipt of award letters of contracts relating to construction works and special financial interventions on behalf of the Bank.
This false claim, the apex bank says is a calculated attempt by some unscrupulous individuals to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians ; stressing that these assertions are fraudulent and should be disregarded.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mrs Hakama Sidi Ali, the apex bank highlighted the raised a red flag to the public.
” The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) wishes to alert members of the public to the activities of fraudsters purporting to be in receipt of award letters of contracts related to construction works and special financial interventions on behalf of the bank.
We wish to clarify that this is false . These individuals are solely motivated by the desire to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.Any such aeertions are fraudulent and should be disregarded” reads the statement.
Further more, the Apex Bank maintained that in accordance with the focus of its current management, it has discontinued direct development interventions and special projects funding.
The Bank explained that it has not authorized public notices for such interventions on social media platforms or any other news outlet.
The Central Bank, therefore, assured that it remains committed to its core mandate of ensuring monetary and price stability and a sound and efficient financial in Nigeria.
However, the Apex Bank, encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or publications to the relevant law enforcement agencies.
