$1trn Economy Achievable If Macro Gains Translate To Productivity, Jobs – Muda Yusuf
Nigeria’s aspiration to become a $1 trillion economy is achievable if gains in macroeconomic stability are translated into stronger productive capacity, increased investment, higher productivity, quality jobs and improved living standards.
Dr. Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), stated this at the 2026 Annual Conference of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) held at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
Speaking as Chairman of the occasion, Yusuf said recent improvements in macroeconomic conditions — especially stability in the foreign exchange market, moderation in inflation and renewed investor confidence — provide a more encouraging foundation for growth.

The conference was themed: “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade & Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.”
According to Yusuf, macroeconomic stability is necessary but not sufficient for economic transformation.
He argued that attaining a $1 trillion economy should not be about merely expanding Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in nominal dollar terms, but about building a more diversified, competitive and resilient economy driven by sustainable productivity growth and capable of delivering broad-based prosperity.
Yusuf, who was honoured as Economic Voice and Advocacy Personality of the Year 2026 at the event, said the value of the conference ultimately lies in the quality of ideas generated and their potential contribution to better policies, stronger institutions and improved economic outcomes.
